Jones Lang LaSalle® has predicted that as much as 25 percent of the current West Coast cargo-base will shift to the East Coast and Gulf ports over the next decade, largely due to the Panama Canal expansion, scheduled for completion in 2014. As the supply chain industry prepares to capitalize on this new opportunity, associations are looking to Atlanta as home base for their tradeshows.

Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has confirmed the location of the 2011 World Education Congress (WEC) in Orlando, Fla. from July 23-26, 2011. The Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), the second largest convention space in the U.S., will host MPI’s signature educational conference while showcasing their socially responsible venue.

Palm Beach County has named Ovations Food Services (OFS), a Tampa-based specialist in upscale food and beverage services for public assembly facilities, as the new food and beverage operations services provider for Palm Beach County Convention Center (PBCCC). OFS began operations on Thursday, July 1, 2010.

The President’s Award is the highest award given by MPI and is only awarded to an organization with the highest standards of leadership. The recipient must be actively involved in the membership, have donated to the organization and have sustainable environmental policies. The recipient of the President’s Award must be involved with the Gulf States Chapter of MPI, not just as a member, but one who works with MPI and supports the entire hospitality industry.

 Tradeshow families inspired to take responsibility for each others lives power the annual Tournament of Hope (TOH). This year’s event is to be held on August 19 at ChampionsGate Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
The 2010 event will include an array of exciting contests, silent auctions, raffles, a down-home buffet, trophies, and first and second grand prizes passed down at an award reception.
