VisitPITTSBURGH, the official tourism marketing and promotion agency of the Pittsburgh region, will represent Allegheny County’s tourism and hospitality community on the 2022 Global Clean Energy Action Forum (GCEAF) Host Committee. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is partnering with Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) to host the 2022 GCEAF in Pittsburgh September 21-23, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.
Jerad Bachar, President & CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH, will join 19 local leaders from various industries on the host committee, which aims to ensure that voices and perspectives from across the Pittsburgh community are a part of the planning process for the United States’ first-ever forum. Leading the committee are four co-chairs:
- County Executive Rich Fitzgerald
- Mayor Ed Gainey
- Farnam Jahanian, President, Carnegie Mellon University
- Stefani Pashman, CEO, Allegheny Conference on Community Development
“I am honored to represent VisitPITTSBURGH and to work with so many of our esteemed regional colleagues on the 2022 Global Clean Energy Action Forum Host Committee,” Bachar says. “The GCEAF will go a long way in showcasing Pittsburgh as a clean energy hub to the world. The forum also will highlight Pittsburgh as a city of advancement and a key destination for business events.
“VisitPITTSBURGH’s Business Events Services team has been working closing with the planning committee, securing hotel blocks throughout the city, as well as providing additional referrals and securing welcoming signage at Pittsburgh International Airport. We look forward to continuing to work with the planning committee as we bring this critical meeting to our region.”
The GCEAF is a joint convening of the 13th Clean Energy Ministerial and the 7th Mission Innovation Ministerial. Here, governments, international organizations, the private sector, academia, innovators, civil society and early career researchers and policy makers will participate in high-level plenary, topical roundtables with energy and science ministers from 31 countries, as well as CEOs and experts, side events, technology demonstrations and other activities.
