21st Annual Ex Awards Presents Winners Live at EMS in Las Vegas

All that glittered was Ex, Gold and Silver on May 9 at the 21st annual Ex Awards Gala, where winners of the 2023 Ex Awards were revealed during a “Let’s Glow”-themed ceremony befitting of the industry’s brightest stars.

Golden Globes of Experiential

Often referred to as the “Golden Globes of experiential,” the gala, this year presented by Freeman during the Experiential Marketing Summit in Las Vegas, once again lived up to its moniker. Music and entertainment from Event Host Live, dance contests, table drops and other glow-ups set the vibe, adding some extra twinkle as the industry’s most innovative brands and agencies were honored across 34 unique Ex Awards categories.

This year’s program drew more than 1,000 entries from around the world, with brands including Anheuser-Busch, LinkedIn, McDonald’s, Xbox and Zoom ultimately adding to their trophy shelves. But it was Reddit and Giant Spoon who took home the highest honor—the Grand Ex Award—for “Find Your People.”

Experiential is Designed to Materialize the Intangible

“At its core, experiential is designed to materialize the intangible, and Reddit raised the bar with the transformation of its digital product into a living, breathing representation of a community-driven platform at the forefront of pop culture,” says Rachel Boucher, head of content at Event Marketer. “‘Find Your People’ events functioned as living white papers, plunging potential business partners into the Reddit universe with ad solutions disguised as everything from custom-built video games to tongue-in-cheek data installations. At a time when bold creative moves are fundamental to driving the industry’s revival, this campaign certainly earned our ‘upvote.’”
