GES celebrated Bring Your Child to Work Day on April 26. “Approximately 70 children of our employees spent the day learning about the live events industry, building booths, touring our operation – and the older children even participated in mock job interviews,” says Detra Page, GES sr. manager corporate communications.
Page’s 10-year-old daughter, Jenna, was one of the children who enjoyed the experience, exclaiming, “The Graphics Depot was amazing! The whole day was fun and I learned a lot about how GES produces events, but my favorite part was the Graphics Depot,” adding, “I’d like to work there one day.”
16-year-old Brianna Haliburton-Brown, daughter of Tonishia Haliburton, a GES human resources specialist, agreed, saying “I thought it was fun hanging out with my mom to see she does all day. We also learned how to go into a job interview, and I learned a lot about how it REALLY is versus what you’re taught in school. It was cool to get that type of direction and experience.”
And there were parting gifts at the end of the day (most grown-ups wished they could have a parting gift at the end of a typical work day). Pictured with their parting gifts, L-R: Jace Holland, age 6; Malia Neal, age 7; Brianna Haliburton-Brown, 16; Ethan Heaton, age 9.
