9th edition of MICE Business Day Creates Opportunities for Hungarian Tourism

By Kerstan Szczepanski

On October 26th, 2023, Budapest hosted the 9th MICE Business Day, a trade show that takes place during Hungexpo. This event welcomes industry experts to exchange ideas on how to enhance Hungary’s standing in the international market. As Hungary’s exclusive tourism industry forum, the event provides education and networking opportunities in the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry.

The event kicked off with introductory speeches by notable speakers, including Zoltán Gál Pál, Managing Director of Turizmus Kft.; Gábor Ganczer, General Manager of Hungexpo; and Zsuzsanna Szégner, Director of International Relations at the Hungarian Tourism Agency. These speeches greeted exhibitors and buyers, both local and international, and explored current market trends, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and its impact on tourism.

David Kliman, co-founder and president of the Kliman Group and recipient of The IMEX Paul Flackett Award 2023, discussed the post-COVID regeneration of the international meeting industry. Cyber-secret futurist Arthúr Keleti, founder of the ITBN conference/expo’s IT Security Day, also shared insights on the effects of artificial intelligence, particularly in the social environment and its relation to tourism.

The event also featured a panel discussion on gastro-tourism, winemaking, and catering, with notable participants including Pál Rókusfalvy, government commissioner responsible for national wine marketing; István Pesti, chef at the Michelin-starred Tata Platán Restaurant; and Zoltán Kőrössy, founding co-owner of the Eventrend Group.

This one-day event, described on its website as “a classic boutique event where exhibitors offering quality services and discerning customers can easily find each other,” ran from 9 am to 6 pm.
