Labor pioneer passes away at age 72

An early pioneer in the tradeshow labor industry, Stephen F. Cahill passed away on May 19 at age 72.

Born in Philadelphia, Pa., Cahill founded and owned Convention Service Inc., a business that took him nationwide installing specialized convention and tradeshow displays.

Cahill is survived by children, Stephen J. Cahill and Christa Cavanaugh as well as their spouses, Sandy and Bill respectively; two stepchildren, Jay Merino and Lucas Martinez as well as Martinez’s wife Brooke; and nine grandchildren, Nicole, Ryan, and Lakin Cahill; Seth and Katie Cavanaugh; Korrin, Kyra and Kalli Martinez; and Braden Merino.

The memorial service was held at 4:00 p.m. on May 24 at Settle-Wilder’s New Smyrna Beach chapel, with Chaplain Mark Spivey, officiating.

Memorial donations in Cahill’s name may be made to Southeast Volusia Humane Society, 1200 S. Glencoe Road, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., 32168.
