PMMI, owner and producer of the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, promoted two staff members to senior vice president as well as acquired a major publisher.
The promotions of Katie Bergmann and Jim Pittas occurred just days before the opening of PACK EXPO International and the debut of Pharma EXPO at McCormick Place in Chicago from Nov. 2–5, 2014.
“Jim is dedicated to giving our exhibitors and attendees a first-class tradeshow experience at every event we produce. We look forward to PACK EXPO’s continued growth and success under Jim’s guidance and we know Katie will continue to lead the administrative side of the organization to new heights,” said Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI.
Bergmann came to PMMI in 2007, and most recently served as PMMI’s vice president of Administration, while Pittas came to PMMI as director of expositions in 2000, and was promoted to vice president of Trade Shows in 2006.
The recent acquisition of Summit Media Group’s digital platform, a complement to PMMI’s strategic plan, and the expansion of the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows, can both be attributed to Bergmann and Pittas.
“Katie has excelled in the management of the Summit Media Group acquisition, and under Jim’s leadership, PMMI has been able to further expand the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade shows — EXPO PACK Guadalajara, Pharma EXPO and PACK EXPO East,” said Charles D. Yuska, president and CEO, PMMI. “Our growth and successes are, in large part, due to both Katie and Jim’s efforts.”
Summit Media Group is the publisher of Packaging World, Automation World, Healthcare Packaging and Contract Packaging. The final sale closed Oct. 31, according to Yuska.
“We are quite pleased to welcome the Summit team to the PMMI family. Summit has a well-deserved reputation for excellence, and its collection of industry publications and Web presence will help us to further engage buyers and sellers. Combined with the PACK EXPO portfolio of trade hows, we’ll be able to help key players in the industry stay engaged all year long,” Yuska added.
In addition to the print publications, Summit Media Group adds its robust digital presence and established audience — further developing PMMI’s strategic vision and goals.
“Summit and PMMI are both in the information business, and our strengths complement each other. I’m confident that together, we will create spaces that lead to conversations that make a difference to suppliers and customers up and down the packaging and processing supply chain. We’re thrilled to be part of it!” said Joe Angel, president and CEO, Summit Media Group.
The Summit Media Group staff, becoming members of the PMMI staff as of Nov. 1 , will maintain their Chicago-area office.
