Anaheim Convention Center to provide free Wi-Fi

Anaheim Convention CenterNext year, the 1.6 million-square-foot, LEED® certified Anaheim Convention Center will offer free Wi-Fi to all visitors. The program will feature standard 128K-upload and 256K-download capacity throughout the facility.

This investment in making the Anaheim Convention Center more technology-centric should give the facility a competitive edge in the marketplace, as it will be the only convention center in the western region of the U.S. to offer free Wi-Fi throughout the facility.

“We are very proud to be the first convention center in the West to offer such an amenity,” said Tom Morton, executive director for Anaheim Convention, Sports and Entertainment. “Free Wi-Fi will give people attending events, meetings and tradeshows easy access to stay connected to home and work.”

This new feature, available beginning in January 2012, will enable visitors to the Anaheim Convention Center to stay connected on the go. Service upgrades and enhancements will still be available for groups and individuals who need faster speeds or greater download capacity.

Recently, the Anaheim Convention Center partnered with food service provider ARAMARK and introduced a state-of-the-art compost “green zone,” complimenting this LEED certified facility. The soon-to-be-added free Wi-Fi is the latest element that sets this facility apart from other convention venues in the nation.

“This new tech amenity will enhance our major convention facility’s appeal and provide attendees with service the meeting industry has come to expect from a world-class venue,” said Charles Ahlers, president of the Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. “Anaheim prides itself on exceptional customer service and providing free Wi-Fi is a great way to put this into practice.”
