Daytona Beach to host 2014 and 2017 Humane Society of the U.S. meetings

The Daytona Beach area has been selected to host the 2014 and 2017 Humane Society of the U.S. Animal Care Expos.

The Humane Society’s decision to bring its exposition to Daytona Beach is the result of the partnership between the Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (DBACVB), the Ocean Center convention complex and the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort.

“The Daytona Beach Area Convention and Visitors Bureau continues to strengthen its relationships with local partners,” said Jeffrey Hentz, president and CEO, DBACVB. “The result is the ability to land a conference such as this that will be hosted in the Daytona Beach area for the very first time.”

The events should do more than draw large crowds.

“The Humane Society of the U.S. is a high-quality convention that not only will bring thousands to the Daytona Beach area, but booking this type of business will help us promote our great destination to other large national groups,” said Don Poor, director, Ocean Center.

The Humane Society of the U.S. Animal Care Expo is scheduled in Daytona Beach on May 6-10, 2014, and May 8-12, 2017.  In total, approximately 1,800 delegates are expected to attend both meetings, which will bring an estimated economic impact of $1.08 million to the Daytona Beach area.

The Hilton Daytona Beach Resort will serve as the host hotel. The Wyndham Ocean Walk Resort and the Plaza Resort and Spa will serve as overflow hotels. Meetings will be held at the Ocean Center and the Hilton Daytona Beach Resort. The Animal Care Expo will be held in the Ocean Center’s arena.
