‘Tis the season to give and today (Dec. 17) is the deadline to help EDPA Las Vegas’ third annual Whitney Elementary school charity drive. With the help of generous sponsors, such as PRG, TS Crew, The Freight Dude, Brumark, CORT, Coastal International, AFR, EDPA Midwest Chapter, Classic Exhbits, Exposures, Color Refelctions, EEI Global, Stevens E3, MC2, Exhibit People and Optima Graphics, the spirit of giving makes a big difference for students and families of Whitney Elementary school.
Whitney Elementary School services some of the neediest students in the Clark County School District, with 100 percent of their students receiving free and reduced lunch with the majority of their students living in shelters and daily/weekly housing. In an effort to ensure that the students were not going hungry outside of school hours, the teachers and staff at Whitney Elementary, lead by their Principal Sherrie Gahn, started a Food Pantry. The Food Pantry provides 250 “food bags” each week to students and their families. These food bags are vital for these families in making ends meet. Through the Food Pantry, the school also provides basic clothing to their students.
EDPA’s Las Vegas chapter made a commitment to provide 100 turkeys and 200 food baskets for both Thanksgiving and Christmas and are accepting credit card, cash and check donations for the perishable items, turkeys, pies and rolls. As of Dec. 5, they were officially less than $1,000 away from meeting their huge goal of DOUBLING their support to Whitney Elementary from last year. Today’s the deadline to make a monetary donation for the pantry items or drop off items at LV Expo, 4015 East Post Road, Las Vegas, NV 89120 by 10:30 a.m. Dec. 17 for Christmas donations.

“Every donation makes a huge difference by helping us to provide food for the families of our community partner Whitney Elementary School,” says a statement by the organization. Whitney Elementary school is thankful for any gift, in any amount. Bulk purchase for perishable items, turkeys, pies, rolls, and pantry items will impact families in the best way.

CESS Honored the Las Vegas Chapter
The EDPA Las Vegas chapter won Chapter of the Year at EDPA Access in Naples, Fla., last month. They also wowed the crowd by donating a $10,000 check to the EDPA Foundation. In addition, Rick Pierson (pictured below) was named a 2018 EDPA Ambassador, recognizing his contribution and service to EDPA and the industry.
The Creative Process
In other EDPA chapter news, the EDPA Southeast chapter hosted a panel discussion of designers and successful industry leaders on Dec. 11 entitled “The Creative Process.” The panel discussed the creative process and how to guide it from early strategic development, all the way through to a completed design that is on-target, relevant, and successful. Topics included how to ask the right questions towards specific customers, how to develop the experience fulfilling for the right audience and how to design architecture that facilitates the most effect experiences and face-to-face encounters with your client’s brand.
