Visit Indy announces the internal promotion of Roberta Tisdul as the new director of convention services. This position oversees the convention services team which supports the more than 500+ meeting planners who host conventions in Indy each year.
Tisdul joined Visit Indy more than a decade ago as an assistant. Her dedication and talents within the industry, along with achieving her Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation, has earned her four internal promotions from event manager to senior manager of convention services, before accepting her new role as director.
Tisdul attended the University of Evansville and earned her event management certificate at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis’ Tourism, Conventions and Event Management (TCEM) Program.
Indianapolis has recently announced plans for a 235,000 sq.ft. expansion of the Indiana Convention Center, and an additional 1,400 hotel rooms connecting in two Hilton-affiliated hotels. The expansion will include a 50,000 sq.ft. ballroom and is anticipated to open in late 2022.
Indy’s record-setting number of rooms that connect to the convention center by enclosed sky-walks will increase to 6,100 rooms at 14 properties. Along with other developments in the pipeline, the city is slated to offer more than 10,000 rooms in walking distance of the center.
