IAEE Gains Status with China Office

After a complex two-year process, the International Association of Exhibitions and Events has gained its status as a non-governmental organization (NGO) in China.

After several years of engaging in servicing the more than 1,000 CEM Learning Program graduates in China and other stakeholders in the region, IAEE has established a permanent location in Pudong, Shanghai.

“The IAEE China office is a natural evolution in our development of our worldwide presence across the exhibitions and events industry,” says IAEE President and CEO David DuBois. “China holds the greatest number of CEMs in the world, and we have been successfully working with Chinese industry organizations and higher learning institutions for some time now to enhance the overall industry in this region.”

Recently, IAEE partnered with Beijing Union University to present a bootcamp-style program consisting of three exhibitions and events related courses to students of the Department of Tourism Management. IAEE provided a visiting faculty member who led 32 students through the successful completion of the course, which serves as a part of the IAEE Workforce Ready Program.

“The program with BUU is an extension of our recently developed Workforce Ready Program that was adapted for China’s marketplace,” says IAEE Executive Vice President and COO Cathy Breden, who serves as IAEE’s chief representative in China. “We are committed to preparing graduates for successful entry into the field on a global scale, in addition to in the U.S., and this curriculum is an example of how we are able to achieve this goal.”

Trusted since 1928, IAEE provides quality and value to its members through leadership, service, education and strong relationships. IAEE is the largest association of the exhibitions and events industry in the world, with a membership of show organizers, exhibitors and exhibition suppliers. Organizers of more than 20,000 exhibitions and buyer-seller events around the world are members of IAEE, and the organization advocates and promotes the awareness of face-to-face exhibitions and events as the primary medium for business development and growth.
