Mae Hill Becomes MCCNO First Embedded Sales Manager

The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center has relocated their senior national sales manager, Mae Hill, to Chicago, Ill. to bring more focus on developing and servicing their Midwest Market accounts.

As the first fully-embedded sales manager for the facility, Hill will partner with her New Orleans and Company (formerly New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau) colleagues stationed in Chicago, where a substantial number of association and corporate headquarters are located. Hill will be able to regularly visit prospective clients in their own environment in order to espouse the value of holding major events at the Convention Center.

Hill joined MCCNO as a sales manager in 2006, and was promoted to senior sales manager in 2011.

“This is a very innovative move for a Convention Center,” says Elaine Williams, director of sales for MCCNO. “Mae’s thirteen years of experience selling and servicing the Midwest Market and her extensive knowledge of the inner workings of the Center, make her perfect for this role. This is truly a unique opportunity for the center and has been well received within the Midwest market.”

Hill is active as a member and sponsor with meetings and event industry associations located in Chicago including The Association Forum, The Greater Midwest Chapter of Professional Convention Management Association, and the Meeting Professionals International Chicago Area Chapter.  Hill is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with the Events Industry Council, and also holds Certification in Exhibition Management (CEM) with the International Association of Exhibitions and Events.

With 1.1 million square feet of prime exhibit space, in an entirely contiguous hall, the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center provides the largest single exhibit space in the country. The MCCNO features an award winning staff and first class amenities, and is the sixth largest convention center in the nation.  A consistent Top 10 host of the largest conventions and tradeshows in the nation annually, the Convention Center is also one of the city’s “Top Workplaces.” A leading contributor to the city’s robust tourism economy, the Convention Center’s event activity has produced $90.1 billion in economic impact since its 1985 opening, including $5.7 billion in new tax revenue for state and local governments.
