AREA15 Wanderland’s Holiday Lighting Ceremony Nov. 27

The spectacular AREA15, 3215 S. Rancho Dr. (just north of Desert Inn), will be holding a one-of-a-kind lighting ceremony for Wanderland on Friday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. Members of the public must preregister to attend the lighting ceremony by going to their website at area15.com to get tickets.

Area15 Art in MotionIn lieu of a traditional tree lighting and in typical AREA15 style, the immersive venue will kick off the holiday season with brief words from CEO Winston Fisher and culminate with the lighting of Balanceville, a 30-foot intergalactic art sleigh illuminated with hundreds of holiday lights. Other features at Wanderland will include an illuminated tree-lined village filled with extraterrestrial surprises, a festive path of snow globes with Insta-worthy holiday vignettes, pop-up retailers including Kappa Toys, Wild Muse Boutique, and local First Friday artists, sweets by Emack & Bolio’s and much more. The experience ends with a holiday photo-op inside Henry Chang’s Mad Max-esque kinetic art car, “Mister Fusion”, decked-out with AREA15’s alien friends.

The Aliume 3-D Psychedelic Art Gallery is part of the entryway for “Wink World: Portals Into The Infinite.”  Wink World is a 1,500-sq.ft. immersive infinity room experience that takes founder Chris Wink’s entertaining fusion of whimsy, color, art, technology and music he pioneered with Blue Man Group to the next level.

To strike the right mood for Wink World’s meditation on infinity, Wink recruited rising art-star Alex Aliume to make a cosmically inspired, 3-D black light art gallery in the expanse that leads to exhibit’s first infinity mirror room. Wink worked with Aliume to choose 15 of his distinctive artworks that relate to the concept of infinity. Aliume’s work was already featured inside Wink World’s sixth infinity mirror room, its gift shop and across the entire façade, but Wink sought to give Aliume a space where guests could enjoy his art in a gallery setting. Guest entering the Aliume Gallery will receive ChromaDepth 3-D glasses that make the colors appear to float in separate planes.

“This phenomenal effect makes you feel like you’re literally going inside the art,” explains Wink. “Talk about immersive experiences—it doesn’t get much more immersive than that!”

Once open, the Aliume 3-D Psychedelic Art Gallery will be best viewed through ChromaDepth glasses that will be included in the ticket price to Wink World. These glasses can also be used to view numerous sacred geometry designs Aliume painted on the walls throughout AREA15.

A rising star in the contemporary art scene, Alex Aliume identifies as a mystic, visionary artist, lightworker and—most famously—as the creator of cosmic UV glow-in-the-dark, 3-D psychedelic art. With collectors in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, the Netherlands, India, Thailand and the Philippines, Aliume’s art is featured on his website at aliumeart.com or on his Instagram and Facebook pages, where he has more than 200,000 followers.

Wink World: Portals Into The Infinite marks founder Chris Wink’s most ambitious art and entertainment project since departing Blue Man Group in 2017. Drawing upon Wink’s well-honed skills as an experience designer, a music composer and overall purveyor of high-impact visual entertainment, the 1,500-square-foot experience takes the entertaining fusion of whimsy, color, art, technology and music he pioneered with Blue Man Group to the next level. Visitors to Wink World will walk through the Aliume 3-D Psychedelic Art Gallery before reaching six infinity-mirror rooms, each one featuring a stunning production number that draws upon Wink’s love of black light and other dynamic stage effects that evoke “life force” and inspire wonder. Wink’s penchant for transforming everyday objects into art or entertainment will be on display as well, as ceiling fans become transformed into kinetic art and children’s toys like Slinkies and Hoberman Spheres become elevated into a chorus line of dancers and entertainers. The 2020 opening date of the full Wink World experience will be announced soon. For more info about Wink World, click here or follow on Facebook and Instagram @WinkWorldOfficial.
