The Economic Impact
Applied Analysis Principal Brian Gordon presented the annual “Economic Impact of Southern Nevada’s Tourism Industry.” The report is an exclusive analysis prepared for the LVCVA that analyzes the economic impacts of our local tourism industry and highlights visitor spending, employment and the economic impact of meetings and conventions. According to the 2022 report, Las Vegas’ unprecedented growth and strong rebound following the pandemic was driven by pent-up travel demand and the addition of new resorts, professional sporting events and venues such as Allegiant Stadium. Highlights include:
• Total economic output related to visitor spending reached a record $79.3 billion in 2022, a 24.7 percent increase from the previous record set in 2019.
• Visitor spending in 2022 hit an all-time high of $44.9 billion, outpacing the prior year by 24.4 percent and the 2019 total by 21.8 percent; On a per-visitor basis, spending climbed to an all-time high of $1,156.
• Southern Nevada’s tourism industry remained the largest regional employer in 2022, directly employing an estimated 229,440 workers.
• Convention visitor spending directly supported an estimated 38,120 jobs, $2.1 billion in wages and $7.5 billion in economic impact.

Outstanding Hospitality Worker Honored
The LVCVA names Abriana Buffolino, special events and filming supervisor at Fremont Street Experience, the first Hospitality Hero of 2023. Abriana was nominated for her commitment to ensuring the iconic attraction shines onscreen and during its many live concerts and events. In her seven years with Fremont Street Experience, she has overseen more than 100 filmings and special events. The Hospitality Heroes recognition program continues to celebrate the outstanding hospitality workers who are the backbone of the tourism industry. Formula1 and Super Bowl Updates
Representatives from Formula 1 and the Super Bowl Host Committee provided updates as Las Vegas prepares to host two of the highest-profile sporting events in the world. Emily Prazer, chief commercial officer for the Las Vegas Grand Prix, talks various ticket packages for the upcoming race. Dave Kirvin, co-chair of the Super Bowl Host Committee Media & PR Committee, discusses upcoming efforts to promote various programs and initiatives by the local Host Committee. LVCVA is charged with marketing Southern Nevada
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) is charged with marketing Southern Nevada as a tourism and convention destination worldwide. They operate the 4.6 million square-foot Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). With more than 150,000 hotel rooms and more than 14 million square feet of meeting and exhibit space in Las Vegas alone, the LVCVA’s mission centers on attracting leisure and business visitors to the area. The LVCVA also owns the Las Vegas Convention Center Loop designed and operated by The Boring Company. They also own the Las Vegas Monorail, an elevated 3.9-mile system with seven stops throughout the resort corridor.
