Tradeshow families inspired to take responsibility for each others lives power the annual Tournament of Hope (TOH). This year’s event is to be held on August 19 at ChampionsGate Golf Club in Orlando, Fla.
The 2010 event will include an array of exciting contests, silent auctions, raffles, a down-home buffet, trophies, and first and second grand prizes passed down at an award reception.
Early registration will earn participants a five percent discount on an $85 per player fee. Registration on the day of the event will begin at 6:30 a.m. and the shot gun goes of promptly at 7:45 a.m.
The TOH is not simply a charity event, it is a charitable organization which benefits individuals in the Orlando tradeshow industry, and assists with the cost associated with life-changing sickness. Recipients of the proceeds are presented to tradeshow/convention industry employees, or their relatives, who have been diagnosed with a life threatening illness or disability.
“Last Year was are 2nd Annual Tournament of Hope golf fundraiser, we raised over $16,000 for our recipients, 81 Players, 23 Sponsors and 14 volunteers made this happen,” said Christina Spoon, TOH representative. “This year we are a 501(c) 3 nonprofit public charity. We are anticipating an even greater turn out with lots of exciting contest and prizes, all funds that are donated go directly to the recipients that will be announced in mid July.”
Industry supporters for the affair include some well known names to the tradeshow industry; International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), diamond sponsor; Orena Sports Bar, gold sponsor; MC2, silver sponsor; and ShoLink as the hole sponsor.
Inspired by the kindness of the tradeshow industry, The TOH was created in 2008 when the industry came together to aid a single family in need. That same spirit of charity is now becoming a tradition in the Orlando tradeshow community.
