The Tradeshow Times: Bowling, Bonding, and Birthdays

by Bob McGlincy

For over twenty-five years, Willwork has celebrated the day before Thanksgiving with a combined employee bowling tournament and birthday appreciation for William Nixon Sr.

A past president of Willwork, Nixon’s birthday was Friday, November 24.  A veteran, educator, and coach, he dedicated forty years of his life to the Easton school district, teaching history and coaching multiple sports at Oliver Ames High School.  Nixon is enshrined in the Massachusetts Coaches Hall of Fame. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stonehill College and a Master’s in Education from Bridgewater State.  His basketball teams won 599 games, with a winning percentage of .742, and won eleven championships.  Nixon also coached football for 28 seasons, track for six, and baseball for two (including one league championship).  The high school gymnasium was named after him in 2008.

Seven teams competed for prizes for the highest team score and for the best costume (most of the costumes were removed before the photo below was taken).  The ”Bon Jovi” team —

Jessica Polvere, Kaitlyn Kewriga, Curt DaRosa, Alaina McGinnis, and Mike Kraus – won for best costume.  And the team bowling winner was the “Zoomers”: Bill Lyons, Pauline Rockwell, Linda Jarousky, Enrique Fermin, and Stephanie Hill.  Bill Lyons was individual high scorer of all the bowlers.  It was a good day to get together, to have fun, and to be grateful.
