New Assistant Director Brings More than Two Decades of Experience to Vital I.T. Role

The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center (NOENMCC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Tommy Costales, its new Assistant Director of Information Technology. A seasoned professional with more than 25 years of information technology and process improvement experience, Costales will be tasked with managing all aspects of the core technology infrastructure for the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. This includes handling data networks, ensuring infrastructure security, providing server support, managing cabling and wireless setups, overseeing disaster recovery processes, and managing VoIP and CCTV systems.

“We are truly very excited to welcome Tommy Costales to our Convention Center team,” said Michael J. Sawaya, President and CEO of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. “Our technology backbone includes miles of cables, thousands of ports that need to function properly, and terabytes of data that flows in and out of our infrastructure. Tommy is more than equipped to rise to the unique challenge that his position will demand of him.”

The New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center is making significant investments in its technology infrastructure as part of its $557 million five-year Capital Improvement Plan. That number includes $5 million in upgrades to the Center’s network cabling and Wi-Fi systems, as well as more robust cybersecurity measures and network stability systems. Costales will play a significant role in ensuring that these investments produce desired results in terms of improved connectivity, security, and reliability for all users of the Convention Center’s digital services.

Costales brings experience from a wide variety of fields to his work at the Convention Center. He has made impacts with his demonstrated leadership in various industries, such as Telecommunications, Construction and Architecture, Governmental and Educational Agencies and more. Costales’ career has spanned multiple high-level roles in the I.T. sector, including Rouses Markets, where he served as the Vice President of Information Technology.
