In August 2024, Las Vegas played host to over 15 major tradeshows and conventions, drawing thousands of attendees across various industries. Notable events included ASD Market Week (August 4-7), a leading B2B tradeshow for consumer merchandise; MAGIC Las Vegas (August 19-21), a massive fashion marketplace event; BlackHat USA (August 3-8), a prominent cybersecurity conference; DEF CON 32 (August 8-11), another key event in the cybersecurity world; and SuperZoo 2024 (August 14-16), focused on the pet industry. These events showcased Las Vegas’ role as a top destination for diverse industry gatherings.

MINExpo INTERNATIONAL: A Gathering of Industry Titans

Looking ahead, the Las Vegas Convention Center will host MINExpo INTERNATIONAL from September 24-26, 2024. This premier event is a must-attend for professionals in the mining industry, offering a comprehensive showcase of cutting-edge machinery, innovations, and industry insights. With over 1,200 exhibitors, the expo is set to provide a unique opportunity for networking and learning, including keynotes from industry leaders like Mike Rowe and Dr. Kelly Monahan. Staging for this massive event is already underway, with vendors setting up in the areas surrounding the convention center.

In September, Las Vegas will host several significant tradeshows. Some of the key events include:

Vision Expo West (September 18-21, 2024) at The Venetian Expo: This event is a major gathering for professionals in the optical industry, including optometrists, opticians, and eyewear retailers.

PAINWeek (September 3-6, 2024) at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas: The largest conference for frontline pain practitioners, offering extensive education and networking opportunities.

The Experience Conference & Trade Show (September 6-8, 2024) at Caesars Forum: Focused on the cleaning and restoration industry, this event features live demonstrations and workshops.

The PRINTING United Expo will take place from September 10-12, 2024, at the Las Vegas Convention Center. This event brings together professionals from across the printing industry, featuring a vast exhibition space filled with equipment demonstrations, industry solutions, and the latest trends

In the lead-up to the Las Vegas Grand Prix, scheduled for November 21-23, 2024, the city is making significant preparations to ensure a smooth event. Track setup begins in September, focusing on lighting and barricade installation. Most work will occur overnight to minimize the impact on the Strip’s busy traffic. Visitors should anticipate some lane closures but can expect fewer disruptions than last year.

New Shows and Attractions

Las Vegas continues to expand its entertainment offerings with new shows and attractions:

Disco Show at The LINQ: Spiegel World’s latest creation, Disco Show, has debuted at The LINQ, offering an interactive experience where the audience joins in on the dance floor. This unique show is paired with Diner Ross, a 70s-themed diner that complements the retro vibe.

Swingers Mini Golf at Mandalay Bay: Opening on November 8, 2024, Swingers will bring a high-energy, adults-only mini golf experience to Las Vegas, featuring DJs, cocktail carts, and street food.

Hotel and Restaurant Updates

Versailles Tower at Paris: Recently renovated, the Versailles Tower now features luxurious balcony rooms offering breathtaking views of the Bellagio Fountains. These rooms provide an upscale experience for visitors seeking to enjoy the Strip from a new perspective.

The Mirage: The Mirage is undergoing a major renovation following its acquisition by Hard Rock International. The iconic volcano, a staple of the Las Vegas Strip, is being demolished as part of this transformation. The resort will reopen in 2027 as the new Hard Rock Las Vegas.

Bellagio Fountains Update: The Bellagio Fountains have added a unique new show to their rotation, choreographed by guest Scott Krupa. Set to U2’s “Beautiful Day,” this is the first time a guest has been invited to create a show for the iconic fountains, offering visitors a fresh and emotionally resonant experience.

Tropicana Las Vegas Demolition

Another significant change on the Strip is the upcoming demolition of the Tropicana in Las Vegas, scheduled for October 9, 2024. The demolition will be accompanied by a spectacular fireworks and drone show, followed by the implosion of the 22-story Tropicana Club and Paradise Tower. This will make way for the construction of a $1.5 billion ballpark for the Oakland A’s.
