20 Teams Compete in a High-Stakes Showdown, Highlighting Precision, Teamwork, and the Critical Importance of Safety in the Scaffolding Industry
by Exhibit City News Staff
Get ready for a rush of adrenaline as the SAIA Scaffold Builders Competition, sponsored by AT-PAC, kicks off in 2025! This all-day showdown is where speed meets skill, and where every move matters. With 20 teams battling it out to erect and dismantle scaffolding with precision and safety, this is one event you don’t want to miss.
When and Where
Tuesday, January 21
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Las Vegas Convention Center – South Hall
More Teams, More Action
This year, the competition has exploded from eight to 20 teams, and they’re bringing their A-game. Each team, made up of four erectors and one coach, will be racing against the clock. But speed alone isn’t enough, teams must be flawless in their execution. One wrong move, and their score drops.
Jackie Davis, Associate Director at SAIA, explains the stakes:
“We’ve got judges stationed at every build site, watching every detail to ensure teams follow safe work practices. Once the scaffolding is up, we have a dedicated judge walking through each structure, checking if it matches the blueprints. Safety is non-negotiable.”
Feel the Intensity
Imagine the pace—teams scrambling to get every component in place, hands moving fast, minds focused, all while knowing they’re being judged on safety, speed, and teamwork. Every beam, every connection, every step counts. It’s a test of who can stay cool under pressure while staying laser-focused on safety.
And the energy doesn’t stop there. With System Scaffold materials supplied by sponsor AT-PAC, these pros will be working with the best in the industry, building structures that must be scrutinized, both on speed and safety.
Some of the 2025 Teams
Among the 20 competitors are:
- Amarok Scaffolding Ltd.
- Contractors Access Equipment
- Heat Tech Industrial, LLC
- KC Scaffold
- Northwest Laborers – Employers Training Fund
- Revolution Industrial
- Scaffold Solutions, Inc.

Each team will be giving their all, but only one will walk away as the champion of safety and skill.
Education and Action: Fall Protection Takes Center Stage
The action doesn’t stop when the competition ends. On January 22 and 23, the SAIA shifts gears with Fall Protection presentations led by Becky Danielson, Chair of the Fall Protection Council. This isn’t your typical sit-and-listen session. Becky’s presentations will be hands-on, with a focus on real-life rescue techniques and continuing the education from her four-part webinar series.
“Fall protection is critical in our industry,” says Davis. “Becky will dive into practical, life-saving techniques, and show attendees how to stay safe, even when the pressure is on.”
Why This Event Matters
Beyond the thrill of the race, this competition highlights the true spirit of the scaffolding industry— safety first, always. The SAIA’s mission is to raise awareness about the importance of safety in the field and to showcase the high level of training and skill that goes into every scaffold built.
“This event is more than just a competition,” says Davis. “It’s about showing the world what it takes to do this job safely and correctly, while pushing the limits of speed and teamwork.”
