Driving Industry Integration: IFES and IELA Align for Impact

submitted by Robyn d’Alessandro, IFES

Amsterdam — The International Federation of Exhibition and Event Services (IFES) and the International Exhibition Logistics Association (IELA) are proud to announce the signing of a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant step forward in fostering collaboration and innovation across the global exhibitions and events industry.

The agreement recognises the essential role logistics plays within the exhibition value chain, reflecting a mutual commitment to streamline collaboration across the entire workflow—from creative concept and construction to delivery on the show floor. This formalises a relationship that has long been reflected in practice. With many shared members, IFES and IELA already operate within a closely intertwined ecosystem.

This strategic partnership is rooted in a shared commitment to knowledge exchange, industry education, and mutual visibility. The MoU outlines a series of joint initiatives designed to benefit members of both organizations and elevate standards across the sector. By working together more intentionally, both associations aim to strengthen the integration of design, production, and logistical execution, ensuring that the exhibition experience is not only innovative and impactful, but also operationally seamless

Key areas of collaboration include:

  • Educational Exchange: IFES and IELA will co-develop and deliver educational content at each other’s annual conferences, with topics and speakers tailored to current industry needs.
  • Annual Knowledge Forum: The partners will host an annual forum—either online or at an industry event—providing a platform for members to share insights and best practices.
  • Co-Presented Content: Joint participation in industry events through co-presented sessions and shared knowledge will enhance the reach and impact of both organizations.
  • Mutual Visibility: Each organization will promote the other through their websites, newsletters, and event communications, strengthening advocacy and awareness.

While the MoU is not legally binding, it reflects a strong mutual intent to collaborate while maintaining the independence of each organization and its members.

Sudhir Dhavan, Chairperson of IELA, commented:

“This partnership with IFES marks a pivotal moment for our industry. By joining forces, we’re not only amplifying our collective expertise but also creating new pathways for education, innovation, and global collaboration. IELA is proud to stand alongside IFES in shaping the future of exhibition logistics and event services.”

Jörg Zeißig, President of IFES, added:

“The success of an exhibition doesn’t stop at a great design or an engaging booth—it also relies heavily on the precise orchestration of logistics to bring those ideas to life, on time and without compromise. This partnership with IELA acknowledges the vital contribution of logistics professionals in our industry and reinforces our shared belief in collaboration as the key to a resilient and forward-thinking future.”
