WILMINGTON, N.C.  – The Wilmington Convention Center today announced the promotion of Scott Frazzetta to general manager, marking a significant career journey that began 15 years ago when he joined the facility as its first executive chef.

Frazzetta has been a cornerstone of the Wilmington Convention Center over the past decade and a half, playing a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience and helping the venue establish its reputation as one of the premier meeting and event destinations on the North Carolina coast. Over the years, he expanded his leadership responsibilities, overseeing food-and-beverage operations, client services, and team development before moving into broader facility management.

As general manager, Frazzetta will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the convention center’s operations, including event services, client relations, facility management, and community partnerships.

“Scott has been a fixture at the convention center since day one, and his leadership has helped position Wilmington as a premier destination for meetings and events. As a longtime resident of Wilmington, Scott’s background and commitment reflect the strong connection between the convention center and the community it serves,” says Molly Johnson, vice president of sales and services for the Wilmington and Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau.

“My years as executive chef taught me about orchestrating teams, managing high-pressure situations, and making sure every detail added up to an exceptional experience,” says Frazzetta. “Leading this facility is much the same, just on a larger stage. It’s about bringing people together and creating moments that leave a lasting impression.”

“Scott’s promotion is a natural next step for someone who has been integral to the Wilmington Convention Center’s success from day one,” says Dan Hoffend, executive vice president of convention centers, at Legends Global, which manages the facility. “His deep knowledge of the venue, commitment to excellence, and ability to inspire his team make him the perfect leader to guide the Center into its next chapter.”

The Wilmington Convention Center, situated along the scenic Cape Fear River, features 30,173 square feet of exhibition space, an 11,800-square-foot Grand Ballroom, divisible into six meeting rooms, eight additional meeting rooms, and an 11,826-square-foot river-front event lawn.

“This facility has been my professional home for 15 years, and I’m deeply proud of what we’ve built,” says Frazzetta. “As executive chef, I never imagined I’d one day have the privilege of leading the entire team.  I look forward to continuing to grow the Wilmington Convention Center’s impact on our community and welcoming even more events that showcase this incredible city.”
