The North American Broadcasters Association (NABA) will bring cybersecurity, broadcast and technology leaders to New York on Oct. 20 for Cyber University 2.0. The full-day summit will focus on cyber threats facing broadcasters and media companies.
The event will run from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET at The Greene Space at WNYC, 44 Charlton St. NABA held its inaugural Cyber University in 2023.
More Technology, More Risk
Broadcasters increasingly rely on IP-based production, cloud systems, remote workflows and connected technology. As a result, those systems can also create new security risks.
“Broadcasters are increasingly adopting IP-based production, cloud infrastructure, remote workflows and interconnected technology ecosystems, which bring with them new security vulnerabilities,” said Rebecca Hanson, NABA director-general.
Cyber University 2.0 will give industry professionals a chance to discuss those risks and ways to protect their operations.
Ransomware Meets AI
The summit will cover ransomware response, cloud security and identity protection. Sessions will also examine agentic AI, content supply-chain security and ways to build support for cybersecurity spending among executives and boards.
Law enforcement officials will also discuss cyber threats facing the industry.
The speaker lineup includes participants from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Google, Mandiant/Google Cloud, Sinclair Inc., FOX, CBS/Paramount, PBS, New York Public Radio, CYPFER, Wiz, OKTA, Trusted Partner Network and Columbia University.
Protecting the Broadcast Chain
NABA designed the summit for cybersecurity professionals, broadcast network engineers and production technology teams. General managers responsible for station operations are also among the intended audience.
Registration is open for Cyber University 2.0. NABA members can attend for free, while nonmembers pay $100.
