An affiliate of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, a large trade union in the U.S., merged with two other regional carpenters’ unions on Jan. 6.
Mid-Atlantic Regional Council of Carpenters (MARCC) merged with two Pennsylvania carpenter councils: Philadelphia’s Metropolitan Regional Council of Carpenters and Pittsburgh’s Greater Pennsylvania Regional Council of Carpenters.
The merger came about to enable the survival of the Union Construction and the middle class.
Union carpenters in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C are organized as MARCC, which is an affiliate of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. All collective bargaining agreements will remain in effect.
