Many of the industry’s top meetings and conferencing stakeholders gathered together on the deck of the Sandton Sun.
Addressing a large crowd about the merits of being involved in Africa’s inaugural Incentives Business and Travel Meetings (IBTM) were Carol Weaving, managing director, Thebe Reed Exhibitions, and IBTM Africa Project Manager Shinu Pillai from Reed Travel Exhibitions.
Explaining that IBTM Africa, part of Africa Travel Week, is an invite only table top event, exhibitors meet with pre-qualified Hosted Buyers through a pre-scheduled appointment system during three days of business, education and networking.
“Exhibitors are guaranteed productive meetings with people who really matter to your business,” said Pillai.
An influential collection of guests included many companies eager about having signed up to join in the inaugural IBTM Africa.
“Reed Exhibitions [is] known to have a global presence, with a history of successful shows and a huge buyer contact base. We are excited about the opportunity to engage with new hosted buyers through the appointment scheduling and formats that Reed Travel Exhibitions bring to the table with their shows,” said Erica Gardiner, group sales manager, Three Cities Hotels.
IBTM is known for bringing numbers of industry leaders together to build connections and business and expanding their reach around the world.
“It’s wonderful to see so many captains of industry all in one place,” said Charles Drewe, operations manager, Indaba Hotel, Spa and Conference Centre. “It is an absolute privilege to welcome the IBTM brand to South Africa. It is exciting that it brings the concept to South African companies who will now have access to the business opportunities IBTM provides, right here in Cape Town!”
The inaugural IBTM Africa will be held Apr. 28-30 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.
