The Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), which positions Atlanta as a destination for conventions and tourism, announced the promotion of a director of public relations.
Creating and implementing campaigns to support ACVB marketing, sales and tourism programs is Rachel Peavy. She will also work closely with the organization’s leadership team on corporate positioning and community relations outreach. Peavy came to ACVB in 2010 as the public relations manager.
“Rachel has been an excellent leader during her three years here at the Bureau,” said William Pate, president and CEO, ACVB. “I am confident Rachel will provide a seamless transition into her new role.”
Peavy previously worked at Edelman in consumer practice, supporting campaigns for travel and tourism clients. She began her career at Rubenstein Associates in New York City where she assisted high-profile consumer clients and co-managed the press room for the 2004 Tribeca Film Festival.
An active member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Peavy is the co-chair for the local Travel and Tourism Special Interest Group.
She replaces Lauren Jarrell, who is leaving the ACVB after 11 years to start a communications consulting practice.
