Adelaide Convention Centre completes initial construction of Western Building

The first part of the Adelaide Convention Centre’s new Western Building is complete and has been officially handed over to the Centre’s operations team. It includes the Panorama Ballroom, a new medical precinct, Adelaide Oval and the Adelaide Hills.

Set to be completed in time for the official launch in March 2015, the entire Western Building will include the new Halls, Riverbank and City Meeting Rooms, and a dedicated western entrance.

Alec Gilbert, chief executive, Adelaide Convention Centre, offers a behind the scenes look as the final building works are completed.

Boasting views of the River Torrens, the Panorama Ballroom, is set to host its first event in January 2015. Expected to be in strong demand, the new Ballroom will host high profile meetings and gala dinners, with the flexible space able to cater for a range of events.

Work continues on the new Halls (LMNO) in the Western Building, a multi-functional space can be sub-divided into six different configurations, and retractable lighting grids allow ceiling heights to be adjusted and shaped for each event.
