As the 2024 EDPA Awards approach, excitement builds within the experiential design industry. These prestigious awards, set to be announced at the EDPA ACCESS event’s President’s Gala in Palm Desert, California, from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5, celebrate excellence, innovation, and dedication.

A Glimpse at a past Award Winner: One of 2022’s notable winners, Kyle Lucken, Product Manager at beMatrix, was honored as Designer of the Year. For Lucken, the recognition was transformative. “Winning was something very special to me,” he reflects. Initially hesitant to see himself as a “true designer,” the award validated his contributions. It also marked a shift in his career, expanding his role from designer to mentor and product developer, influencing the industry’s approach to design.

Lucken advises future nominees to “enjoy the moment and let the award fuel your passion for the industry. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about innovation, education, and leadership.”

The Role of EDPA in Promoting Excellence: Dana Esposito, chair of the EDPA Awards, underscores the importance of these awards in highlighting industry achievements. “The awards are a highlight of the EDPA ACCESS event,” Esposito said. She explains that winners are not only celebrated at the gala but also featured on the EDPA website and in post-event recaps, enhancing their visibility and credibility.

Esposito also highlights how the awards help winners leverage their recognition for further professional growth. “Winning an EDPA Award means your efforts are the best in the business,” she says. “It’s a great honor that enhances credibility and opens up new opportunities.”

Looking Ahead: With the nomination deadline set for Oct. 4, 2024, industry professionals are encouraged to submit their entries. The awards ceremony promises to be a significant event, bringing together leaders and innovators in experiential design. As past winners like Lucken have shown, the EDPA Awards not only honor past achievements but also serve as a catalyst for future success.

This year’s event, held at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells, will continue the tradition of recognizing and celebrating the best in the industry. Stay tuned for more updates as the 2024 EDPA Awards draw closer.
