ASAE’s Leadership Committee, composed of representatives of ASAE and the ASAE Research Foundation, has selected six nominees to serve on the ASAE and the ASAE Research Foundation Boards of Directors for Fiscal Year 2022 (FY22), with terms beginning Sept. 1.
Thirty-nine nominations for at-large board seats were received from highly qualified association professionals. The final nominees were selected based upon several criteria, including how they best characterize ASAE’s new strategy, represent their organizations’ membership bases and enhance diversity, which is inclusive of geography, association size, career level, gender identity, ethnicity, skill sets and areas of expertise.
This year’s Leadership Committee is chaired by immediate past chair of ASAE Patricia V. Blake (pictured left), FASAE, CAE, chief executive officer at the Heart Rhythm Society. Blake says, “We collectively and with purpose selected leaders who bring diversity of background and insight, as well as people who are proven thought leaders and champions of the association community.” She continues, “ASAE is in a period of strategic planning and, like the rest of the association community, is taking steps to help our members serve effectively into the future. With these nominees in place, as well as the continued leadership of all of the applicants, I am confident we can ensure that ASAE is on the right path to continued and sustained success.”

Steven C. Anderson, FASAE, CAE, IOM, President and CEO, National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Arlington, VA, will become Chair of the ASAE Board.
Lakisha Ann Woods, CAE, President and CEO, National Institute of Building Sciences, Washington, DC, will become Chair-Elect and Chair of the ASAE Research Foundation Board.
Lynda J. Patterson, FASAE, CAE, President and Owner, AMPED Association Management, Middleton, WI, will be the new Secretary-Treasurer.
The committee nominated the following individuals to serve three-year terms as “At Large” Directors (FY22), all for ASAE’s Board. Three will also serve on the ASAE Research Foundation Board.

The new board will be officially installed and join the current board members during the 2021 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, Aug. 16-18.
ASAE Bylaws provide the opportunity for additional nominees to be proposed through a petition process. Should any member be proposed by petition, the petition should contain the signatures of at least 2.5% of the ASAE voting membership (1,191) and should be received at ASAE Headquarters no later than August 2, to the attention of Patricia V. Blake, FASAE, CAE, Chair of the Leadership Committee.
131 Earned CAE Credential
One hundred thirty-one association executives recently earned their Certified Association Executive credential from the CAE Commission of ASAE, joining more than 4,600 industry leaders worldwide who hold the distinction.
The Summer 2021 class of CAEs successfully completed the CAE examination administered nationwide May 1-14, 2020. They will be honored, along with the Winter class of CAEs, during the 2021 ASAE Annual Meeting & Exposition, Aug. 13-18. A full list of the Summer 2021 class can be found at the end of this release.
