The associate director of education and conferences for American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) passed away on Mar. 18, according to Society officials
Passionate about supporting the health care industry, Ilse Almanza often anticipated, met and exceeded the expectations and needs of ASHE members and other health care professionals during the course of her more than 39-year career.
According to ASHE, staff admired Almanza for her amazing ability to make large, complex conferences run so smoothly. Many ASHE members said they met her through her work planning the Society’s annual events.
At 17, Almanza gravitated toward the health care industry with a position at American Hospital Association. She worked as an AHA employee for her entire career.
Almanza believed in lifelong education, and in recent years, she received her master’s degree. She also held Certified Meeting Professional and Certified in Exhibition Management credentials.
She was a respected colleague, a caring friend and a knowledgeable mentor. Most importantly, Almanza was adored by her family.
Almanza leaves behind her husband, Guillermo; daughters, Salina and Jessica; grandchildren, Arianna, Isaiah and Nathan as well as sisters, Christel, Margery, Barbara and Linda. She also leaves behind many other relatives.
