Association News: Upcoming EDPA Meetings & Last Minute Venue Change

Exhibit City News is launching more coverage of industry association news in 2019. Here’s the first quarter EDPA meetings that are currently scheduled.

EDPA Northern California – Jan. 17

NorCal’s first meeting of 2019 will show how to recognize and skillfully manage challenges during a growth cycle. Lunch will be hosted on Jan. 17 at the Jamison-Brown House (1505 Warburton Ave., Santa Clara, CA 95050) from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.

Dan Greene and Pat Friedlander will go over systems, processes and tools for maximizing success in “Opportunities and Challenges During a Growth Cycle” featuring benchmark statistics from the annual EDPA Economic Survey. The EDPA annual economic survey results benchmark labor rates, markups, and average cost of rental, custom and modular exhibits per square foot. Survey results are tallied from the industry’s leading companies and account for over $850M in exhibit sales. This exclusive and confidential information is not published and is only available when presented at the EDPA annual convention in Northern California and participating companies. Attendees will walk away with knowledge on how save or make money immediately and if payments charging too much or potentially leaving money on the table. The lunch schedule is listed below:

11:30 a.m.-noon: Registration and Farmhouse Buffet
Noon: Welcome and Introductions
12:10 p.m.: Carmen from Triton Museum
12:20-2 p.m.: Interactive Presentation: “Opportunities and Challenges During a Growth Cycle”
1:30-2 p.m.: Tour of Triton Museum’s Event Spaces

in memoriam mary ann furnishAfter the quarterly meeting, EDPA NorCal will host a Celebration of Life from 1:45 – 3 p.m. for industry pro and former EDPA NorCal Chapter President Mary Ann Furnish (pictured left) who passed away unexpectedly Jan. 7. There will be pie and coffee, presentation and gifts. No registration is required for the Celebration of Life. Friends are welcome to share their memories and photos for an upcoming obituary at newsdesk@exhibitcitynews.com as well as to share them in the “Mary Ann” folder on the EDPA NorCal chapter’s shared Google drive at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Pl1YyAVUChIYQsq04O7GTnH9jRrkDpLf.

EDPA Southern California- Jan. 17

SoCal 1.17.19Also on Jan, 17, Randal Acker, president and COO of Exhibitor Media Group, will be the guest speaker for the educational event, “Exhibit and Event Marketing: A Snapshot View of the Industry” to be held at Pali Wine Co., 500 S. Anaheim Blvd., Unit C, Anaheim, CA 92805 (this was a last minute venue change due to so many RSVPs. Food and Beverages will be served after the presentation. The new venue is a Wine Bar, so bring cash if wine is your thing. See you tomorrow…This presentation will provide a snapshot view of shifts in the industry. In addition, EDPA SoCal has picked two charities, the Red Cross and Humane Society of the U.S., as recipients to support those affected by the California wildfires and they are asking for members to help with donations.

The EDPA Large Chapter of the Year 2018 (congrats EDPA Las Vegas!) is celebrating with a New Year mixer on Jan. 23 at Eclipse Theaters in downtown Las Vegas (814 S. Third Street) from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Their EDPA chapter breakfast (Feb. 27) and the 2019 EDPA Golf Tournament will be held during ExhibitorLive with details to follow later. EDPA Northeast – Jan. 28

EDPA Upper Midwest – Feb. 11

EDPA-Upper Midwest-2.11.19 p. 1EDPA Upper Midwest’s first meeting of the new year will be Feb. 11 and will feature EDPA’s Executive Director Dasher Lowe at Big Ink in Eagan, Minn. Students from Bemidji State Exhibit Design program will be on hand to network and showcase their design work throughout the evening. The cash bar will be available throughout the evening.
