Atlanta’s animation and gaming convention expands to GWCC

After the conclusion of MomoCon, Atlanta’s animation and gaming convention held May 23-25, a new venue and expansion were announced for the 2015 event.

After the 10th successful event in Atlanta, where MomoCon expanded its attendance to almost 15,000 attendees and saw more than 20 percent growth at the Atlanta Hilton and the Marriott Marquis, the show will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center next year.

“We continue to grow, but always we focus on the quality of experience for animation and gaming fans,” said Jess Merriman, convention founder and internal co-chair, MomoCon.

In line with the goal of expanding the experience, MomoCon also will introduce comic book programming and guests to the lineup for Comic Con-style events, in addition to the Anime Con-style events from previous years.

“We started with anime and added American animation programming, which has been very well received,” said Dan Carroll, media relations director. “Adding comic books is a move similar to Japanese Manga, which we have celebrated since the start.”

Next year’s MomoCon will host guests such as Steve Blum, Little Kuriboh, Crispin Freeman, Greg Weisman, Keith David and many more.
