AWE Announces 2020-21 Board of Directors

The Association for Women in Events, a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional advancement of women in all facets of the events industry, has announced its 2020-2021 board members and 2020 executive committee. The association received more than 40 applications for eight open board positions and the Succession Planning Task Force spent several weeks vetting candidates for these important leadership roles. The Board of Directors guides the vision of the association and shapes the community surrounding the organization.

The 2020 incoming board members (beginning a two-year term in 2020 through EOY 2021):

● Jeanne D. Procope, CMP, MTA, senior director, conference strategy with The American Institute of Architects
● Kiki J. Fox, senior manager, national sales with Core-apps by Community Brands
● Brad Weaber, principal of Brad Weaber Consulting Group, LLC
● Jamie Bohner Shelley, vice president, business development and partnerships of Events and Transportation Associates
● Paige Cardwell, president of CSG Creative
● Aaron Lewis, CMP, executive assistant to chief medical officer & chief quality officer with Kettering Health Network
● Rachel Sheerin, CPBA, keynote speaker and team trainer with RachelSheerin.com
● Kirsten Treadwell, CMP, meetings manager with ASIS International

The incoming board members who will join the following current board members (completing a two-year term EOY 2020):

● Josie Zamolyi Caldwell, CEM, national sales manager, GES
● Kari Messenger, meetings manager with Association Management Center
● Kelsey Dixon, co-founder & president of davies + dixon
● Leigh Long, freelance marketing communications strategist & writer
● Linda Vaji, director system events and volunteer management with Geisinger Health System
● Maggie Menozzi, director of association sales with Choose Chicago

“We are thrilled to announce our in-coming slate of 2020-2021 board members joining the AWE
leadership team this coming January,” says 2019 President Sullivan. “We had an outstanding response to our call for candidates this year and our final selections represent a remarkable mix of industry icons and rising stars from a global events community. This incoming group will surely add an extra dose of depth, breath and influence to our already AWEsome team of trailblazers and industry trendsetters. More surprises are in store as 2020 brings our first global president from event technology and our incoming president-elect from the corporate meeting world. We look forward to a brilliant, game-changing year ahead.”

New board members were chosen from an array of fields including education, marketing,
association, corporate and hospitality spanning the globe from Seattle to Boston to Mexico City.
The official 2020 Board of Directors roster will be published on AWE’s website in January 2020.
