Prestige Events Magazine honored the Barbican in London, Europe’s largest combined conference and arts venue, with the COOLest Conference & Exhibition Centre award.

The COOL Venue Awards, run by Prestige Events Magazine and now in its eighth year, brings together the best in the industry. A “COOL” venue is described as having charisma, originality, style, innovation, sex appeal, authenticity, aspiration and uniqueness.

Held at Café de Paris on March 5, the awards ceremony brought together event professionals to celebrate the industry. A judging panel of 18 peers, including the editorial team of Prestige Events Magazine and the UK’s leading event agencies and corporates, pulled together their top three venues in each category before the winners were chosen.

“To be given this award is a major credit to everyone who works hard to ensure the Barbican delivers year in and year out as a leading venue,” commented Jackie Boughton, head of sales, Barbican Business Events. “It was a fantastic night of networking and celebrating the industry as a whole but to be awarded with the ‘COOLest Conference & Exhibition Centre’ award made it all the more special.”

Barbican was specifically built with the dual purpose of holding conferences and arts events. Featuring fully equipped concert hall, theatres, conference suites and boardrooms, it can accommodate meetings of up to 2,000 delegates. Barbican Business Events was created to bring together their expertise in three very different areas – the arts, creative learning and corporate business.
