Belfast Waterfront leads in oculoplastics field

The first Annual Scientific Meeting of the British Oculoplastic Surgery Society (BOPSS), held at Belfast Waterfront Conference and Exhibition Centre in Ireland, was hailed as a complete success by both organizers and delegates alike.

The only purpose built conference center in Northern Ireland welcomed nearly 300 delegates to a three-day event that examined the principles of orbital surgery, thyroid management and vascular lesions of the orbit as well as new advances in these fields.

Steve White, consultant eye surgeon at Royal Victoria Hospital, praised the Belfast Waterfront team for their support and expertise.

“The conference was undoubtedly a great success and this is in no small part thanks to the entire wonderful team at the Waterfront. The whole process was seamless, hassle free and the enormous support I received from the team made my first experience of organizing such an event a truly enjoyable one,” stated White. “Belfast Waterfront is one of the best conferences centers in the UK. It is a top notch facility, purposely built to host conferences and therefore equipped with quality support services and facilities that are essential to creating a fantastic experience for delegates.”

Excellent food, tiered comfortable seating in a spectacular auditorium, and a friendly front of house team were some of the features commended in the positive feedback from delegates. The conference also underpinned the venue’s flexible spaces for small and large conferences.

Northern Ireland is very well represented in field of ophthalmology with an Institute of Ophthalmology in Belfast, and units in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast Mater Hospital and Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Londonderry. As a leading player in this specialism, White recommended the locale and Belfast Waterfront to host a conference that would showcase the latest advancements as well as promote knowledge sharing.

“The overwhelming positive feedback I have received from delegates, along with my own personal experience of the venue, have proved that we absolutely made the right choice,” White concluded. “I would unreservedly recommend Belfast Waterfront to colleagues working in oculoplastics and different specialisms.”
