The meeting world’s decision-makers and planners are encouraged to visit Sydney at IMEX America to learn about how they can benefit from the harbor city’s shining meetings future.
Business Events Sydney (BESydney) and International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) have joined forces, exhibiting on the Australia stand (2633) along with Tourism Australia and some of the country’s key industry representatives at this year’s show.
“IMEX America is a great platform for us to talk to North American and international decision makers about our exciting future,” said Lyn Lewis-Smith, CEO, BESydney. “This is a truly spectacular time for Sydney – the city is undergoing significant transformations that will completely change the face of the harbour city. It’s not the Sydney people knew a decade ago, or even a year ago, and there’s never been a better time to consider Australia’s creative and commercial capital for business events.”
ICC Sydney CEO Geoff Donaghy is proud to be playing a part in what he believes is one of the most exciting projects in the venue world today.
“ICC Sydney is smartly positioned at the epicenter of the city-changing revitalization of Sydney. Whilst Asia Pacific’s premier convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct is being constructed on Darling Harbour, the next generation hubs of finance, innovation and media are burgeoning along our perimeter,” said Donaghy.
BESydney is encouraging show-goers to learn from their peers at the IMEX Inspiration Center (3403), which promises to spark and stimulate discussion on a range of inspiring topics. Visitors will have the opportunity to hear from forward-thinking experts on issues that are genuinely pushing the boundaries of our industry and shaping its future.
“This year we are sponsoring the Inspiration Center because we saw great synergies with the show’s thought leadership hub and Sydney’s own penchant for discovery,” added Lewis-Smith, who will be holding a session at 1 pm on Tuesday 14 October in Seminar Room 2 at the IMEX Inspiration Center.
The topic Business events make destinations – and their communities – shine: the Sydney story will focus on the bureau’s collaboration with research partner, The University of Technology Sydney, on the Beyond Tourism Benefits research suite. In this session, Ms Lewis-Smith will share key findings from the latest research – discoveries that could influence an event planner’s decision-making process in choosing their next conference destination.
“Challenge yourself this year at IMEX,” said Lewis-Smith. “Come to the Inspiration Center and find your shine! And, look out for the second edition of our new magazine, SYDNEY SHINES, to find out more about the city’s depth and texture, its atmosphere of free thinking that results in inspired solutions, and the people that make it one of the warmest and most inviting places on earth.”
This year’s tradeshow promises to be impressive with The IMEX Group announcing an expanded tradeshow footprint to 1.2 million square feet. The organizer has said for event buyers to expect “an even bigger, more functional and attractive tradeshow” with redesigned lobby and common spaces and a reconstruction of meeting rooms, executive offices and the business center.
