Blue Telescope Wins Three 2016 International Design Awards

tessellation_makerBlue Telescope, the interactive exhibit agency, has been honored with three 2016 International Design Awards.  The International Design Awards exists to recognize, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries and to uncover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design.  Blue Telescope was honored from a base of thousands of submissions from over 60 countries in this year’s competition.

Recognized with a Silver Award in the “Graphic Design” category was Tessellation Maker (photo top right), an interactive multi-touch tabletop activity developed with Liberty Science Center for the travelling exhibit Beyond Rubik’s Cube.  Tessellation Maker lets visitors explore the geometry of patterns and tessellations by snapping shapes together to create more complex objects, launching colorful animations, and drawing parallels to tessellations found in everyday life.

The Injection Simulator, created for Ipsen, educates doctors in treatment techniques for cervical dystopia.  The simulator utilizes a life-size mannequin with a soft surface in the neck to allow users the opportunity to practice precision injections.  An adjacent display shows the syringe’s position in the musculature and provides information about the amount of medication virtually injected into each muscle.  The Injection Simulator received a Bronze Award in the category of “Graphic Design”.

Receiving an Honorable Mention in the category of “Graphic Design” was Anatomical Family, an interactive exhibit for the Konya Science Center in Turkey.  The exhibit presents the anatomical systems of a man, woman, and child as projections mapped onto life-size silhouettes.  The projections animate to show the basic functions of the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, digestive, nervous, and circulatory systems.  Touchscreen stations allow visitors to select systems, learn more about individual organs, and trigger animations such as nerve impulses and muscle motion.

Blue Telescope uses technology and design to craft immersive experiences that blend hands-on interaction with media spectacle.
