Broward County Convention Center exhibits works of marine-inspired local artists

The SMG-managed Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center has begun exhibiting the works of some of South Florida’s most exciting eco-minded artists. The rotating exhibits showcase the facility’s commitment to celebrating South Florida’s marine environment and ecosystems.

The works, selected in collaboration with the North Beach (NOBE) Art Gallery, will be on display in the convention center’s 600,000-square-foot Cyber Café. The first exhibition features 30 prints on paper or canvas by Pascal Lecocq, known as “The Painter of Blue.” In his entertaining work, the lines between fantasy and reality meld together as he fluctuates between surrealism and hyperrealism in representing the marine landscape.

“Since receiving our LEED Gold certification in the summer of 2012, we continue to identify new ways to express our facility’s eco-consciousness and connection with the coastal waterways and environment,” said Mark Gatley, regional general manager for SMG and the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center. “Meeting-planners and guests will truly enjoy the beautiful artwork on display by regional artists as it complements the aquatic theme already apparent throughout the building.”

The Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center is located on 17 acres of waterfront property at the northern end of Port Everglades, one of the world’s largest cruise ports. Operated since 1989 by SMG, the tri-level, LEED Gold certified meeting and exhibit conference facility features state-of-the-art high-tech amenities, flexible meeting space and outstanding food and beverage service.
