Chicago Ranks Third Among U.S. Cities for Business Conferences in 2026
Chicago ranks third nationwide for scheduled business conferences in 2026, with 65 events already listed, according to an analysis by Booking.com for Business using data from All Conference Alert. The ranking places Chicago behind New York City and Las Vegas and reflects continued demand for in-person corporate meetings. Confirmed 2026 events span manufacturing, research, finance, and professional services, including the International Conference on Manufacturing Research planned for March. The study aligns with broader projections showing growth in the U.S. meetings market and a rebound in corporate travel activity heading into 2026.

Discover Boating Chicago Boat Show Returns to Donald E. Stephens Convention Center
The Discover Boating Chicago Boat Show will return Jan. 28–Feb. 1, 2026, to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center (DESCC) in Rosemont for its 94th edition. The annual consumer exhibition will run for a second consecutive year at the venue after relocating in 2025. Organizers said the 2026 show will feature hundreds of boats on display, including pontoons, fishing boats, personal watercraft, cruisers, and yachts from regional dealers. The event remains one of the Chicago area’s largest recurring consumer shows and a key winter draw for the DESCC calendar.

2026 Chicago Auto Show Sets Dates, Debuts Chi-Town Alley at McCormick Place
The Chicago Automobile Trade Association announced dates and new programming details for the 2026 Chicago Auto Show, scheduled for Feb. 7–16 at McCormick Place. Organizers confirmed the debut of Chi-Town Alley, a new show-floor area highlighting Chicago’s local automotive enthusiast community. The show will again feature multiple indoor test tracks, outdoor ride-and-drives, and the return of Chicago Drives Electric, Camp Jeep, and Ford Built Wild experiences. The Chicago Cubs will host the 2026 Cubs Convention Jan. 16–18 at the Sheraton Grand Chicago, continuing the team’s annual fan-focused event ahead of the baseball season. The three-day gathering brings players, alumni, prospects, and executives together for panel sessions, autograph signings, podcasts, merchandise sales, and youth programming. The event operates as a cashless, ticketed convention across multiple hotel ballrooms and meeting floors, with hotel packages sold out and weekend passes available separately. CI2026 Chicago Conference Registration Opens at Hyatt Regency Chicago
Registration opened in December for the American Cochlear Implant Alliance’s CI2026 Chicago Conference, scheduled for May 6–9, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. CI2026 is a multidisciplinary medical meeting focused on cochlear implant care, technology, and clinical practice, with sessions covering emerging implant technologies, artificial intelligence, mental health considerations, health disparities, and clinic efficiency. Chicago officials approved the Central Area Plan 2045, the city’s first comprehensive downtown development framework in more than 20 years. Gov. JB Pritzker announced Illinois’ plans for the United States’ 250th anniversary during a December event at Navy Pier, outlining a yearlong, statewide program of public art installations, festivals, and cultural events. The Illinois America 250 Commission is coordinating the effort, with 68 counties and more than 167 organizations currently participating. The Obama Presidential Center (OPC) closed 2025 with several major construction milestones as work continued across the Jackson Park campus on Chicago’s South Side. The Foundation confirmed completion of Home Court, a 60,000-square-foot athletics and community building featuring an NBA-regulation basketball court, multipurpose rooms, and youth programming space.
