The Québec City Convention Centre has renewed its AIPC Quality Standards Gold Level Certification following an external audit through the AIPC Quality Standards Programme.
The renewal keeps the venue among more than 30 convention centers worldwide that hold the Gold designation. The program evaluates management performance across 11 areas, including customer service, operations, employee relations, health and safety, financial integrity, environmental responsibility, community relations, industry relations, inclusivity, and supplier relations.
AIPC said the review confirmed that the venue continues to meet the requirements for Gold-level recognition.
“Successfully renewing AIPC Gold Certification demonstrates an ongoing commitment to excellence, continuous improvement and international best practice,” said Julianne Jammers, president of AIPC.
The recertification comes during the Québec City Convention Centre’s 30th anniversary year. The venue opened to the public Aug. 29, 1996. Since then, it has hosted more than 4,297 events, including 1,536 conventions and 345 large international conventions. The Centre also reports more than $2.69 billion in regional economic impact since opening.
International business continues in 2026
The Centre expects to host 10 international conferences in 2026, drawing nearly 6,000 participants from dozens of countries. Those events are expected to generate more than $12.3 million in economic impact for the greater Québec City region.
Air access has also expanded. Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport increased scheduled seat capacity by 15 percent in 2026, adding 376,456 seats and bringing total capacity to nearly three million. The Centre has cited the increase as a benefit for planners and international delegates traveling to Québec City.
Centre helps launch new international conference
In June, the Québec City Convention Centre and Cité des Congrès de Nantes announced H₂Orizon, a new international conference focused on sustainable water management.
The first edition will take place Feb. 14-17, 2027, at the Québec City Convention Centre. The program is being developed with academic and industry partners and will bring together researchers, public officials, private-sector representatives, Indigenous representatives, nongovernmental organizations, and international experts.
Caroline Lepage, chief executive officer of the Québec City Convention Centre, said the renewed Gold certification provides another measure of the venue’s management standards.
“For our clients and partners, this Gold certification is a tangible guarantee,” Lepage said. “When they choose the Québec City Convention Centre, they can trust they’re working with a team held to the highest international standards.”
