CIBTM 2014 Knowledge Program set to inspire

China Incentives and Business Travel Meeting (CIBTM), a global event organized by Reed Travel Exhibitions, will provide meeting professionals with a three-day Knowledge Program this September.

The educational program offers cutting-edge, professional learning opportunities across influential, expert-led sessions. It’s a platform for those involved in the meetings industry to enhance their professional knowledge and develop their careers.

“This year, we have created more than 20 dynamic, innovative and tailored seminars, workshops and bite-sized sessions covering a wide variety of topics, including social media, sustainability, innovation, industry research, market trends and the latest key issues and hot topics, dedicated to three industry buyer categories, including association, corporate and agency meeting planners,” said Erica Keogan, associations and education manager, Meetings & Events Portfolio.

One of the key sessions, which proved one of the most popular at last year’s event, is the presentation of the 2nd China MICE Buyers Report on Sept. 19. Presented by Rob Davidson, industry analyst and senior lecturer in events management at the University of Greenwich in London, this newly updated and dedicated research will highlight the factors that are most important to Chinese meeting planners when making decisions on the location of their events. The results will be compared to last year’s report to look at how behavior has developed in the last year and to start to identify new trends. On Sept. 18, the session will be introduced exclusively to both exhibitors and members of the press.

CIBTM 2014’s opening educational session on Sept. 17 is titled “Transform Your Meetings: The Five Principles of Meeting Design” and will be presented in partnership with Meeting Professionals International (MPI). This exclusive session will introduce a step-by-step guide to designing meetings to include Assessment and Evaluation, Meaningful Engagement, Distributed Learning, Collaboration and Experience – that can change meetings from ordinary to extraordinary.

In the afternoon, a key session dedicated to association buyers, the “CPAM Taster,” provided by the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) will highlight its role, mission and value in assisting association professionals to build the skills they need to effectively manage delegates.

The following day –Sept. 18 – will feature the Corporate Day Opening Session “Leading a Culture of Innovation,” provided by LDI. This workshop will examine the paradigm that hinders inventive thinking and will take the attendees through a process for transforming their company’s culture to one that values and promotes innovation.

Also, the “Driving Efficiencies through Strategic Meetings Management” session will attract corporate buyers interested in knowing more about the benefits of Strategic Meetings Management.

“At CIBTM, we are dedicated to progressing the meetings industry, both in China and internationally, through research and education, and we are delighted to be welcoming such experienced industry leaders who will be providing our delegates with all-around volume of knowledge to help their business and further their careers, plus provide real value to help them better plan and execute their meetings and business strategies,” commented Jacqui Timmins, exhibition director, CIBTM and AIME, Reed Travel Exhibitions.

“In addition, through our partnership with RecertTrack, the world’s first online portal for certification and re-certification, CIBTM provides an essential tool for all delegates giving them a unique opportunity to track their industry related professional development activities, including the credits they obtain by attending the CIBTM knowledge program,” she added.
