CORT to help provide educational scholarships

cortCORT, a provider of transition services, has announced that it has formalized a partnership with the Folds of Honor Foundation. Founded by Major Dan Rooney in 2007, Folds of Honor provides educational scholarships to dependents and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving the U.S.

As part of the partnership, CORT will provide both monetary and product support to the Folds of Honor Foundation. The company is planning to execute a variety of special fundraising activities throughout the year so that their employees and customers may get involved to help military families across the country.

“For more than 40 years, CORT has been committed to supporting and honoring military personnel and their families through various channels in appreciation for their tremendous sacrifices for our country,” said Jeff Pederson, president and CEO, CORT. “CORT is extremely proud of its partnership with Folds of Honor Foundation and to name it as CORT’s official charity. We look forward to bringing awareness to all of the great things they do for military families and being a part of making the dream of having an education a reality for Folds of Honor scholarship recipients.”

Kicking off its new partnership, CORT donated furniture for the Folds of Honor Foundation’s Honor Cottage located in Sperry, Okla., which is a retreat house where military families can kick back and relax away from the challenges they have faced whether it’s a loss of a military parent or a disability caused in the line of duty. The Honor Cottage is expected to be completed on Memorial Day 2013.

“We are thrilled by CORT’s generosity and commitment to our organization and to the military families that we serve,” said Rooney. “Through CORT’s donations, fundraising and products, we hope to provide scholarships to even more deserving families this year.”
