Dayton, OH — Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority (MCCFA) is pleased to announce a 10-year contract extension with Legends Global, premier partner to the world’s greatest live events, venues, and brands, to continue management of the Dayton Convention Center (DCC) through 2036.
This long-term agreement reaffirms a successful partnership that has elevated the DCC’s operations, strengthened its market position, and enhanced its role as a vital economic driver for the region.
Pam Plageman, executive director and CEO of the MCCFA, praised the partnership’s continued success and impact on the community. “This extension represents not only our trust in Legends Global’s management of the Dayton Convention Center but also our shared vision to keep the center growing as a catalyst for economic vitality in downtown Dayton and across the Miami Valley region. This renewed partnership ensures stability and the continuous momentum that Legends Global will provide through 2036. Under Michael King’s leadership as general manager, the progress has been tangible: record client satisfaction ratings, increased event bookings, and positive community engagement. Legends Global has been an exceptional partner in helping us realize our vision for a revitalized, world-class facility that proudly represents Dayton and Montgomery County.”
The management contract extension comes on the heels of a $45 million renovation and modernization project completed by the MCCFA. Unveiled earlier this year, the renovation added high-level finishes and new ballrooms, modern meeting spaces, upgraded technology, public art, and enhanced amenities, repositioning the Dayton Convention Center as a premier convention and events destination.
Michael King, general manager of the Dayton Convention Center for Legends Global, shared his enthusiasm for the next chapter of the partnership. “We are honored to continue our relationship with the MCCFA and the Dayton region through this long-term extension. The Dayton Convention Center has undergone an incredible transformation, and we’re excited to build on that momentum expanding our event portfolio, strengthening community partnerships, and creating even more exceptional experiences for our guests and clients.”
The continued collaboration, King said, “reflects a shared commitment to operational excellence, strategic growth, and delivering high-quality events that contribute to Dayton’s economic and cultural vitality.”
The 300,000-square-foot convention facility includes three column-free exhibit halls, two ballrooms, a 654-seat theater, and 20 meeting rooms, all just steps from downtown Dayton’s historic district. The Dayton Convention Center remains the premier event venue of the Miami Valley, with modern upgrades and dynamic management that will continue to drive tourism, business, and community impact for decades to come.
Looking ahead, the Dayton Convention Center will debut a new street-level dining venue, Elevate Café and Bar, in early 2026. Located along East Fifth Street adjacent to the Levitt Pavilion, the concept will bring year-round energy to the district with a café-by-day, bar-by-night design and a welcoming seasonal patio.
“The Dayton Convention Center is soaring following its $45 million transformation. We thank Pam Plageman and the Montgomery County Convention Facilities Authority for their continued partnership and confidence in Legends Global to manage this jewel of convention centers,” said John Page, regional vice president, Legends Global. “I’m extremely proud of our Dayton team, led by Michael King, and excited for the future as the DCC takes its rightful place amongst the top convention centers in the region”
