Design To Print and SEG Warehouse have partnered once again to support the long-running Glittering Lights charity event in Las Vegas. The drive-through event is about two and a half miles long and includes light displays sponsored by scores of companies.
Speedway Children’s Charities is the recipient of a portion of each ticket sold. They use the funds, through a grant process, to support more than 50 local children’s charities in Southern Nevada. The only requirement is that the non-profit use 100 percent of the funds on programs that directly affect children. Glittering Lights, together with the PJ 5K run through Glittering Lights, makes up more than 50 percent of the money SCC grants.
The amazing light displays that have been dazzling Las Vegas year after year are produced by Winterland, Inc., of Marion, Ind. Winterland Inc., was started more than 20 years ago with a passion to create unique holiday decorations. Over the years they’ve evolved into the leading supplier of drive-through light parks as well as high-quality and long-lasting decorations for the nation’s leading drive-through light parks.
Glittering Lights is open Nov. 9 through Jan. 6 beginning at dusk. Sunday through Thursday it is open 5-9 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and holidays 5-10 p.m. Admission prices are per vehicle and are $20 Mon.-Thurs. and $30 Fri.-Sun. and holidays. An open-air Santa Tram (pictured left) is available on a limited basis for $20-$25 per person. It is open on select dates. Tickets can be purchased online for a predetermined time slot and a limited number are available per hour. Reservations are recommended but walk-ups are available.
Goodwill of Southern Nevada collects goods of gently used items through Glittering Lights and uses the proceeds to train and help find jobs for those that need it providing a “hand up, not a hand out.” Area Boy Scout Troops raise money for their camp programs through Glittering Lights as well. Last year the scouts raised more than $80,000 (net to the troops) through Glittering Lights.
Area PTO and PTA’s also raised money through Glittering Lights. In all, more than $450,000 in cash and goods was donated back to the charitable partners last year.
