DAYTON, OHIO – Destination Dayton, the destination marketing organization for Dayton and Montgomery County, has announced the appointment of Cathy Petersen as Executive Vice President and the promotion of Senior Sales Manager Ron Eifert to Director of Sales. These strategic changes reflect the organization’s commitment to enhancing its leadership and continuing its efforts to position Dayton as a premier travel and events destination.
Petersen brings extensive experience in strategic communications and public relations, having worked across public policy, higher education, and media. Most recently serving as Chief of Public Information at Sinclair Community College, Petersen also held the role of Director of Digital Marketing & Media Relations at Destination Dayton from 2018 to 2020 and was Director of Communications for Montgomery County, Ohio from 2008-2018. With her strong background in digital communication, media strategy, and event management, Petersen is poised to further strengthen the bureau’s engagement with the community and key stakeholders in this newly created position.
Eifert, a seasoned professional and native of Dayton, has been a valued team member at Destination Dayton for more than 31 years. His expertise in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry, particularly in bringing youth and amateur sports and hobby events to the region, has played a crucial role in boosting local tourism and economic growth. As Director of Sales, Eifert will oversee Destination Dayton’s convention and meeting sales team and develop sales strategies–including leveraging the newly renovated Dayton Convention Center ($45M renovation to be completed in early 2025).
“We are thrilled to welcome Cathy Petersen back to the Destination Dayton team and to see Ron Eifert step into this well-deserved role,” said Jacquelyn Powell, President and CEO of Destination Dayton. “Cathy’s dynamic leadership and extensive communications experience, combined with Ron’s unparalleled dedication and deep-rooted connection to Dayton, will be invaluable as we advance our mission to enhance the area’s visitor economy.”
As Dayton and Montgomery County’s destination marketing organization, Destination Dayton collaboratively leads and advocates for the development of the region’s visitor economy, which contributes to a thriving community, a diverse tax base and lifestyle amenities for everyone to enjoy.
