Jennifer Petrous and Xenia Castillo-Hunter have been named to lead the Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (DMCVB) newly formed international sales team. Petrous and Castillo-Hunter will promote and sell the Detroit region for tourism and meetings in the U.K., Germany, Brazil, Korea, Mexico and China.

The DMCVB international sales efforts were put in place mid-year because of the marked increase in international traffic to Detroit from parts of Europe, Asia and Latin America. To accommodate this demand, Delta Air Lines significantly increased the number of nonstop flights from those regions into Detroit – one of their hub cities – within the past year.

Detroit already has a significant number of visitors from overseas as a result of the global automotive industry and the region’s many technologically advanced businesses,” said Chris Baum, senior vice president of sales and marketing at the DMCVB. “As the advanced manufacturing capital of the world, Detroit is well positioned to attract even more world-class conventions and business group meetings in the near future.”
