Downtown Louisville hotel to attract convention business

Helping to drive the redevelopment of downtown Louisville and attract new convention business is a planned 600-room Omni Hotel.

Set to break ground in 2015 and open two years later, the hotel will feature 600 guest rooms and suites along with 70,000 square feet of meeting space.

Event attendees will also have access to an additional 300,000 square feet of meeting and exhibit space at the Kentucky International Convention Center.

According to Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, the city’s economy will benefit as a result of a revamped downtown area as the project will also include upscale grocery and retail space.

“It will boost our convention and tourism industry as Omni provides a new level of luxury hotel,” said Fischer.

The Omni joins the Marriott Downtown Louisville, The Brown Hotel, 21c Museum Hotel and the Seelbach Hilton, and will become part of that chain’s Convention Collection.
