EACA Weekly Zoom Meeting on COVID-19 Crisis to Discuss Current Initiatives

EACA, the Exhibitor Appointed Contractor Association, has been having weekly panel discussions via Zoom regarding the COVID-19 crisis. According to executive director Jim Wurm, “The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the exhibits and events industry. Once Congress started to deliberate on how best to shore up the economy in the midst of travel restrictions, event cancellations and corporate layoffs numbers of industry associations and professionals launched initiatives to defend and protect organizations and employees who make their living producing exhibits and events. These initiatives include the Congressional lobbying efforts spearheaded by the US Travel Association, the Live Events Coalition, the Live for Life effort, Go Live Together and recently the Trade Show Recovery Act.”

Wurm continues, “On April 24 our panel of tradeshow leaders will discuss several of these initiatives and what goals and objectives they hope to generate.”  The panel will include:

  • David DuBois, executive director of IAEE, who will cover the lobbying efforts of the US Travel Association,
  • Rick Simon, Tradeshow Executive Media Group, who will cover the Trade Show Recovery Act, and
  • Sue Sung, senior VP, Freeman, who will cover the Go Live Together initiative.

Wurm encourages listeners to participate in the discussion by sending any questions you may have for any or all of the panelists by emailing them to jimwurm@eaca.com in advance. He also asks that when you send in a question, let him know if you’d like it asked anonymously, or if he can say your name and company.

Wurm adds, “Currently we are recording these Zoom sessions and posting them to our site. Here are the two previous programs: https://eaca.com/featured_item/20-04-10-cares-act-experience/   and https://eaca.com/featured_item/20-04-17-converting-convention-centers-field-hospitals/. Eventually, we hope to live stream and record together.”

Jim Wurm is the executive director of EACA, an association dedicated to “raising the level of service excellence on the showfloor,” with 30 years of tradeshow marketing and show management experience. Contact him at jimwurm@eaca.com.
