The Annual Northern California EDPA Chapter Golf Tournament was held on Thursday, August 5th at Crystal Springs Golf Course in Burlingame, Calif. Ten teams enjoyed perfect weather on a spectacular course before networking at the bar, enjoying a delicious dinner, attending an award ceremony and winning a nice selection of raffle prizes.
Chris Clark, Chapter president and Rick Hevener, tournament organizer and board member, hosted the event, which was attended by industry veterans from at least 5 states.
“This is more like a family reunion than a professional networking event,” said Melinda Stewart of Octane Group. “Many of us have been friends for over 20 years.”
Those in attendance from out of state included Bernie Massett of MC2 in Las Vegas, Kevin Nute of Cort Tradeshow Furnishings in Las Vegas, Mike Boone of Coastal International in Nashville, and Robert Laarhoven of Laarhoven Design in Atlanta.
Attending and enjoying an EDPA chapter meeting for the very first time were John Distelhurst and Guy Miller of Oakland and Las Vegas based EMax.
The tournament sponsors were General Graphics Exhibits, Tri Valley Bekins Tradeshow Services, and GroupDelphi. Silver sponsors included Blazer Exhibits and Splash.
Tournament results:
• First Place, with a team score of 68 was Loren Ellis, Hussaini, Robert Laarhoven and Benjamin Victor Reyes.
• Second Place, with a team score of 69 was Thane Williams, Bernie Massett and Rene Jansen.
• Third Place, with a team score of 69 was Craig Shotwell, David Lund and Rick Hevener.
• Coming in dead last (and going home with a trophy anyway) with a high score of 85 was Vanessa Ellis, Wayne Laube, Melinda Stewart and Guy Miller.
