EDPA Northeast “The Classic” Golf Tournament – All Fore Charity and Networking

by Danelle Dodds

The 6th annual EDPA Northeast golf tournament tees off on Monday, September 12, at the beautiful Shaker Hills Country Club. A pillar for promoting lasting relationships, it makes perfect sense that the course’s 200+ acres have laid the foundation for this event every year. Once anointed as the #2 best new course in America, its lush greens are the ideal backdrop for an association known for creating opportunities for relationships to bloom.

EDPA is the Experiential Designers & Producers Association. It was founded in 1954 and is internationally recognized as a national trade association that is a driving force in its commitment to the exhibit, experiential and trade industry. Their contribution to the community is a pronged approach, focusing on Education, Succession, and Benefaction. And the EDPA Northeast “The Classic” Charity Golf Tournament is all that, in spades.

“The Classic” is considered a networking first golf event, which celebrates the Succession tip of their approach. Their goal of providing opportunities for connectivity are on display with player’s ability to register as an individual or twosomes for this event. The stellar committee will combine players into foursomes, allowing like-minded peers to rub elbows with each other during the scramble format.

Full group networking opportunities will also be provided, with a pre-shotgun-start breakfast mingle, as well as a celebratory awards ceremony following the event. There, sponsored awards like Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive will be distributed, as beverages flow. Longtime sponsors like Taylor (formally Optima), DS&L and Exposures continue to contribute to sponsorship opportunities. And this year’s introduction of sponsored gift baskets also added a fun new enhancement to the day.

From start to finish, the other foundational bell of the afternoon rings through. At its core, this event is a charity experience. Its goal is to raise funds for the EDPA Foundation Scholarship Program. This foundation’s focus is to provide financial assistance via scholarships to industry members and their families. To date, this program has awarded over 100 scholarships to members in need. Proceeds from “The Classic” registration and sponsorship contributions will be funneled into the EDPA Foundation and reinvested in the future of the event industry.

The EDPA Northeast “The Classic” promises to continue its reign as one of the chapter’s most enjoyed events. An afternoon on the greens has never been so rewarding.
